Rock Gardens

A rock garden can be a beautiful, interesting addition to any yard. Especially if you have some areas where things don’t want to grow, or you have a slope or shaded area where your plants never fully mature. These are all good spots to place a rock garden.

One form of a rock garden is to use small rocks to form a river or small stream meandering through your yard. Along the way you may have some spots where you can grow a plant or two on the banks of your rock stream. This type of rock garden, if done well, is quite eye catching. If you are handy, you can even add bridges across your rock stream.

If you want to work with larger rocks, it is best to make a design on paper first and determine where you want to place the large rocks. Unfortunately, rocks are heavy and you probably wont want to move them around many times. So if you have a design, and can place them where you want them on the first try, you will be way ahead of the game.

If you want some plants among your rocks, you might want to try succulents as they will grow just about anywhere and do not need a lot of attention.

You can even put moss on your rocks, if you so desire, by using your blender and mixing some ground up moss with yogurt and potter’s clay. Spread the mixture over the top of your rocks, keep it moist and soon the moss will attach itself to the rock and begin to grow. Hopefully, you will have the desired look for your rock garden.
