When many people think of a traditional garden, they may think of the gardens of the country estates of England. There is something comforting about a garden that looks like it should be behind a quaint little vine covered cottage. No matter if your property is estate-sized, cozy residential or commercial you can make a traditional garden.
Whatever theme you choose for your traditional garden will depend on what you like. If you like an Asian theme, build a stone walk through the area where you might place a bench and bamboo screens to create a private area and plant bamboo around the edge of your yard since it grows tall. This makes a barrier to the next property. Water is a must in your garden, install a small pool or fountain and make a Zen garden with stone and sand. There are no limits to the plants you can use in a traditional garden. You might even like a piece of statuary or a gazebo for your traditional garden. Build flower beds using brick or edging blocks, liriope are nice low-growing plants that make a good border to contain a flowerbed.
Maybe your choice would be a moonlight garden with plants of blues, silver, pale green foliage, white blooms and foliage. These will be radiant by moonlight. Hosta is a good selection, they come in many colors of green, blue and variegated species. As you plant your garden be mindful of the plants when they mature and plant taller growing plants at the edge of the property, like bamboo. Plant lower growing shrubs in the front of the property.
