Your garden may have several different types of areas such as sunny, shaded or partially sunlit. Each area must be planted accordingly to have a very beautiful garden to enjoy all year long.
For a shade garden you will want to have shade-loving plants. You can use trees or shrubs for your shade and plant beneath them. You can also use the north side of a building. You can set up a bird bath and feeder, and have a bench or chair to sit in and enjoy the shady area. There are various types of shade loving plants such as ferns, astilbe, foxglove, and hostas.
Perennial plants need the morning sun; the east side of a building or the southern side of a building are good places for a sunny area garden. Herbs and vegetables love the sun and need at least 6 hours of sun a day. If you have shade in your garden for only a small part of the day, plant leafy vegetables in that area.
If you have an area of your garden that is a problem area, yet you still want something planted there, you could consider a rock garden, or even make a raised garden of some type. It if gets lots of sun, you could even have a multi-level area and plant strawberries. You will need good planting soil for the area. It can be any size or shape you desire.
No matter what type of garden you have, you can have a beautiful garden. When you choose your plants just make sure they are for what ever area you have, be it sunny, shade or partial shade. Partial shade refers to shade in the morning or afternoon.
