Starting a Flower Garden

Start planning around February/March time frame to make sure you have the right flowers and colors you want.  You want to find a good area be it sun/shade/partial watch the area for a few days so that it will help you choose on what types of flowers you’ll be looking for.  Design your garden on paper or with pictures.  Pictures will also help you with looking at color and height.

You want to make sure you have some annuals and perennials with different sizes in your garden plus think of fall flowers also that way you have flowers till the first frost.  You may want to do a little landscaping which you can use rocks, plastic edging, landscaping ties etc. there are many different ways to landscape your garden.  You may want to get your ground tested or just get compost with some sand and mix together with the dirt to put nurturance in the ground for your flowers.

Visit the local nursery.  Check out the flowers you have chosen for your garden.  Check the tabs the nursery provides you to tell you what type of sun it needs.  Don’t be surprised if you pick flowers and it doesn’t go where you want it to.  Look around at other kinds and types of flowers you like and check the tabs again.

Once you have your flowers picked and at home put them in the ground and water.  You can add mulch to keep the weeds down and the moisture in but you don’t have to.

Now you created some you like sit back and enjoy your hard work.
